Jacobsburg Historical Society Calendar of 2008 Events
The 2008 calendar of events at Boulton will
showcase the recently renovated 1832 JJ Henry House and Pennsylvania
Longrifle Museum exhibits, as well as those efforts to enhance the
annotated archives, research, longrifle courses, and reenactment
programs. JHS has a renewed dedication to share with its local and
national audience, the incredible legacy of the Henry family and
those generations who worked with them at these historic acres.
March 5
— Spring Gunmakers Class. Wednesdays
through April 23, 7pm-10pm at the Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum,
Boulton. Advanced gunsmithing class.
April 19 —
Spring Fling Trade Blanket Event. 1 pm-4 pm, Henry
Homestead, Boulton. Purchase a blanket space; buy, sell or trade
your historical, antique, or old neat things.
May 4 —
Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum Open House. Sundays
through October 26, 1pm-4pm, Boulton. Permanent display of Henry
longrifle collection. JJHouse open every 3rd Sunday and for special
events throughout the season.
May 15-18 —
Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Conference.
May 20 —
Jacobsburg Historical Society invites the public to attend the groundbreaking
ceremonies for the Nicholas Hawk Gun Shop Reconstruction Project
at noon on May 20, 2008 on the grounds of the 1832 John Joseph Henry
House (402 Henry Road, Nazareth, PA).
June 14-15 —
Kentucky Rifle Frolic. 10am-4pm, Boulton. 18th and 19th century
living history encampment. Highland games, working craftsman, lots
of food and fun.
June 28 —
Kutztown Pennsylvania-German Festival. 8am-5:30pm, through July
6th at the Kutztown Fairgrounds. JHS display will feature the art
of gunsmithing.
July 18 —
Evening Under the Stars (rain date July 19).
July 25 - 27 —
Dixon’s Gunmakers’ Fair. Dixon’s Gun Shop, Kempton,
Pennsylvania. JHS display will feature early Lehigh and Northampton
County longrifles.
September 14 —

September 19-21 —
North Valley District Minsi Trails Council Boy Scout Camporee.
September 24 —
Fall Gunsmithing Course. Wednesdays through November 12, 7pm-10pm.
Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum, Boulton. Apprentice gun-smithing
course.
October 16 —
Annual Membership Dinner. 6 pm, Holy Family Club, Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
October 25-26 —
American Fur Trade Rendezvous. 10am-4pm, Boulton. Living history
encampment, blacksmithing, colonial cooking, black-powder shooting,
Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum and John Joseph Henry House tours.
November 23 — Holiday
decorating at Boulton.
December 13 — Christmas
at Boulton - Saturday, 12:30 pm-4 pm Children will like cooking,
crafts, and games of the Colonial era at the Old Henry Homestead
(Museum of the Pennsylvania Longrifle), while their parents
enjoy an old-fashioned Victorian Christmas, complete with live music
and period dress by Lorita Musselman, at the 1832 John Joseph Henry
House.
